After R2, McCombs offered a webinar for waitlisted candidates that went through the process and had tips for improving your candidacy. I am sure there will be a similar webinar for the R3 candidates.

Best of luck!

Is quadrilateral PQRS a parallelogram? (1) Adjacent sides PQ and QR

Bunuel wrote:
Is quadrilateral PQRS a parallelogram?

(1) Adjacent sides PQ and QR have the same length.
(2) Adjacent sides RS and SP have the same length.

Target question: Is quadrilateral PQRS a parallelogram?
If you recognize that each statement on its own is not sufficient, we can jump straight to . . .

Statements 1 and 2 combined
There are infinitely-many quadrilaterals that satisfy BOTH statements. Here are two:

Case a: PQRS could be a square.
Image
Since a square is a type of parallelogram, the answer to the target question is YES, quadrilateral PQRS IS a parallelogram

Case b: PQRS could be kite-shaped.
Image
In this case, the answer to the target question is NO, quadrilateral PQRS is NOT a parallelogram

Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, the combined statements are NOT SUFFICIENT

Answer: E

Balakumaran19 wrote:
Does cone A have the same volume as cylinder B? (Volume of a cone = 1/3 pi r^2 h, and Volume of a cylinder = pi r^2 h)

1. The cone and the cylinder have the same height.
2. The ratio of the radius of the cone to the radius of the cylinder is 3:1.

Question:
Is \(\frac{1}{3}\pi r^2_1h_ 1= \pi r^2_2 h_2\)
where \(r_1\) and \(h_1\) are radius and height of cone respectively, and \(r_2\), \(h_2\) radius and height of cylinder respectively.

I) \(h_1= h_2\)
\(\frac{1}{3}\pi r^2_1{h_ 1}= \pi r^2_2 {h_1} \Rightarrow \frac{1}{3} r^2_1= r^2_2\)
But we still do not know the relation between \(r_1\) and \(r_2\) Not suff.

II) \(\frac{r_1}{r_2}=\frac{3}{1}\)
Not suff on its own as we do not know the relation between \(h_1\) and \(h_2\)
1+2

We know that \(h_1 =h_2\) and also the relation between \(r_1\) and \(r_2\)
Suff.

Ans C

Please check : the actual ratio of the radius should be\(\sqrt{3}:1\)

teleste, temper that enthusiasm. I know plenty of folks who value a JD over an MBA in the business world. Beyond this, each person, depending on their wants and desires, career wise, will decide which is more valuable. Lastly, anything in the T-25, much like B-school, is considered strong enough to get you to where you want to be. To make a blanket a statement that anything outside T-13 isn't worth it is ridiculous. Plus, Georgetown is right on the line. And FYI, we on the law side argue T-14 is the first breaking point, not T-13.

obiwanginobili, if you want to do a dual degree, that would probably be best for you. With your scores, maybe look at a school that offers a dual T-10 (Duke or UCLA, perhaps?).

It seems that they liked it well enough. I received an admit offer this morning.
I am very excited to receive my first offer, and very much appreciate the well run process with RSM.

Is x an integer ? Yes/No consistently will be sufficient
Now stat (1) x+5 = integer> x= integer-integer =integer ,so YES x is an integer (sufficient)

Stat (2) x/(1/4)= integer> (x/(1/4))(4/4)= 4x= integer >x=integer/4

when x=4/4=1 YES x is an integer but when x=2/4=1/2 No x is not an integer (Insufficient)

On what planet is a JD>MBA?

It only takes one look at websites like TLS and ATL to see that a JD is usually only valuable if you get it from a T13 school (of which GULC is not one) AND you're committed to practicing law as an attorney.

Virtually any other unicorn aspirations can usually be achieved without a JD...

It was my understanding that traditionally Georgetown was part of the Duke, Northwester, Cornell tier of law schools, but in recent years it has somewhat slipped due to lower Big Law + Article 3 clerkship numbers. However, I hear big law is still very achievable out of Georgetown, but you should be in the top half to feel safe (whereas with Cornell, Duke, and Northwestern you just not need to be in the bottom third). But, assuming that I do not want to do big law (though a Federal clerkship obv would be amazing and maybe I would feel the pull of BL after having spent a year just as I would likely feel the pull of consulting if I went to SOM), I think there is very little difference between the schools. In fact, among those schools, I am pretty sure Georgetown has the best reputation in public interest (much like Yale does in business schools among its tier).

As to the JD vs MBA, I have spent most of my time around nonprofits and government, and it just seems as if a JD is valued more highly in these circles.

But the again, Yale is Yale, and perhaps management skills (whatever they may be) may be more transferable than understanding contracts and torts.

80 m/sec * 60 sec/min * 60 min/hr = 8*36 + 000 --> 288,000 m/hr

The choices are very spread out so we should estimate.

1440*1000 / 288,000 1500/300 5 (time to destination)

Time from destination is half, so 2.5 + 5 = 7.5 hours.

Because production costs are rising, a local theater company is planning to maximize its profits by reducing by half the number of plays it stages per season. The quality of performances, their frequency, and the admission price will not change. Furthermore, neither the audience nor the sponsors, an important source of theater funding, is expected to be lost if the plan is instituted.

Which of the following, if true, provides the strongest evidence that the theater's profits are not likely to increase if the plan is instituted?

(A) The majority of theatre goers are concerned about possible loss of production quality.

(B) Most sponsors will continue to donate the same amount of money per production as they have in the past.

(C) Next year's production costs are expected to be on average 20% higher for each production.

(D) Many theater lovers would continue to attend performances regularly even if the admission fee were increased.

(E) Performers' and technical personnel's salaries will not change in the near future.
