I feel that in my second attempt I messed up quant which I can improve with practice. I am happy with my verbal score. But I am not able to improve my DI score (In the mocks I was able to score upto 89 in DI but have failed to score well in both the attempts). I am planning to give the exam again by feb end can someone please help me out with what should I do to achieve my target.

This happened with me. The probable cause is because we didn't click "Submit" to some of the DI questions. We just clicked "Next" after select the alternatives.

Is this the expected behaviour of Forum Quiz, bb Bunuel? Wouldn't the correct behavior be for the site to auto-submit and consider the options selected after the user presses the "Next" button, without the need to press "Submit" every time?

Tks!

A blue box above the one that says Stay Connected! with a title saying Interview Details.. not too flashy, honestly missed it when I refreshed the portal until I saw a new optional form for a need based scholarship application show up below it too.

I see it. From Madrid here. Thanks

From Madrid too :) Working in the US now though.

Invites are rolling and you still have until the 23rd to hear - do not lose hope! Also worth mentioning I still haven't gotten an email (its been around 2.5h since the portal update), so definitely focus on refreshing. best of luck!

It is commonly believed that a persons level of intelligence is relatively fixed. However, a recent study has demonstrated that doing intensive cognitive training can cause peoples levels of intelligence to increase significantly. Study participants who took a group of tests of intelligence before and after doing intensive cognitive training scored significantly higher on the tests after they did the training than they had before doing it.

The above reasoning involves which of the following assumptions?

    (A) The study participants scores on the tests of intelligence did not increase by much different percentages on different tests.

    (B) Peoples scores on tests of intelligence usually increase at most insignificantly as a result of their repeatedly taking tests of intelligence.

(C)What is commonly believed about peoples levels of intelligence is significantly different from the truth about peoples levels of intelligence.

    (D) The study participants had not been successful in increasing their levels of intelligence before doing the cognitive training involved in the study.

    (E) Most people are sufficiently motivated to increase their levels of intelligence to do the type of intensive cognitive training done by the study participants.

Source: Marty Murray Coaching

Conclusion of the argument: Intensive cognitive training can cause peoples levels of intelligence to increase significantly

Support Given: In the argument, the conclusion is based on the premise that intensive cognitive training caused significant increases in intelligence test scores.

Hence, the author of the passage believes that no other factor was at play that caused the increase in peoples levels of intelligence.
This is the underlying assumption that the author has.

Answer Choice Elimination-

    (A) The study participants scores on the tests of intelligence did not increase by much different percentages on different tests.

The author's conclusion doesn't require that score increases be uniform across all tests. The conclusion hinges on the assumption that intensive cognitive training was the reason for the increase in the intelligence level of the participants. Hence, we can eliminate option A, as that option is not necessary for the conclusion to hold true.

    (B) Peoples scores on tests of intelligence usually increase at most insignificantly as a result of their repeatedly taking tests of intelligence.

Let's zoom into this option. This option addresses the fact that there's typically little to no improvement in intelligence test scores through repeated testing alone, without any intervention such as cognitive training. The conclusion in the passage relies on the premise that the increase in intelligence test scores observed in the study participants was a result of the intensive cognitive training they underwent and not because of any other reasons. Hence, this option helps us eliminate any additional factors that could result in the observed result.

Let's keep option B and move on.

(C)What is commonly believed about peoples levels of intelligence is significantly different from the truth about peoples levels of intelligence.

This optiondoesn't directly relate to the observed change in intelligence due to training. It's a broader statement about the nature of intelligence, not something the study necessarily assumes. Hence this option is out of scope. Eliminate C.

    (D) The study participants had not been successful in increasing their levels of intelligence before doing the cognitive training involved in the study.

This is an interesting option, but it's not essential for the reasoning. Note that the conclusion calls for a "significant" change in thelevels of intelligence.

While this option helps strengthen the fact thatcognitive training was responsible for an increase in the participant's levels of intelligence, the statement is not an assumption as we are looking for a significant increase.

    (E) Most people are sufficiently motivated to increase their levels of intelligence to do the type of intensive cognitive training done by the study participants.

This option is irrelevant to the conclusion and the observation provided in support of the conclusion. While motivation might influence results, the presence of motivation is not an assumption that the author relies on in concluding the passage. We can eliminate E.

Option B

does knowing French while applying give a boost to the application?

If you are asking about French as a second or a third language, no there is no preference for one language over another at the time of application. However, if you have a very high level of proficiency, such as a C1 or C2, and you pitch an eagerness to work in France post-MBA (for example), the adcom will surely take note of that as a positive thing.

Guys
Waitlisted quartile 2
Work ex -8.5 years. (In a startup )
Current designation -Assistant Vice President

Gmat focus -655
Interviewed at Hyderabad on 11th Sep. went really well
Panelist’s comments at the end
“You are a powerhouse of knowledge”
“The love and passion you have for your company I have seen in very less people in my long 20 year career

10th -93.2
12th -80
Engineering-7.93/10

Now guys the person I was seeking help from is stating the my low gmat is the reason for the same
He is saying that 655 is being treated by isb as 650 of traditional gmat and it’s a very bad score.
But what I understand from the table mentioned on mba.com that it’s equivalent of a 710.
So can someone like @manan or any other expert clarify this.

Hi All,

Has anyone heard back from HEC PARIS after their interviews for Jan 15 deadline? When should one expect to hear back from them? Also, what are the admission chances if you get shortlisted for the interviews?
