College professor: College students do not write nearly as well as they used to.
Almost all of the papers that my students have done for me this year have been poorly
written and ungrammatical.

Which one of the following is the most serious weakness in the argument made by the professor?

The argument is "College students do not write nearly as well as they used to. "
This however is based on his students: "my students have done".

In this passage the professor generalizes his reasoning without any proof.
my students do not write well => all students do not write well

(A) It requires confirmation that the change in the professor's students is representative of a change among college students in general.

Though I think it is a good set to train, really, but this one is not a pure gmat like question.

An argument in Cr, in particular, has:

- at least a premise
- a conclusion (though not all)
- background information (though not all, or in a complete manner, in other words: partial information if not at all)
- most argument could have counter points or premises.

I do not see here an argument. Maybe is good as question that enforces your formal logic but for me is not a gmat-like question. Never seen a question like this neither in the gmat question pack 1.
