Well... I am not a huge fan of ATT but it really depends on where you are. Most of the time I connect to my hotspot via WIFI so it is. It really hotspot vs WiFi but hotspot vs cable or DSL or Fiber ![:-)]( "Smile")
However if you are in a good coverage area, hotspot can be faster and better.... Especially vs slower DSL.
I dont think it really matters most of the time.
