Target schools:
HBS, Wharton, Stanford, MIT, Yale, Duke
Background: Age 24, Male, Romanian
GMAT: 740 (Q 50, V 40); TOEFL: 112 (from 2010, will retake shortly)
Work experience:
2 years in management consulting at a top office in South Eastern Europe, focusing on strategy assignments in multiple industries, such as petrochemicals, oil&gas, banking etc. as well as operational improvement engagements; worked in several projects in multiple countries/multi-national teams;
Previous experience - 1/2 years management consulting internship at another consulting office in the region, as well as multiple internships in undergrad (pharmaceuticals, education, finance.)
Education:
Undergraduate: International Economics from the top program in Romania. GPA ~ 3.7 equivalent
Involved in academic research - member in the statistics and econometrics department, being co-author in several published papers
Extensive student leadership involvement: class president; lead multiple student-lead initiatives, ranging from social events and student life to housing system management and student representation in the University decision forums
Graduate School: Masters degree - International Relations and Geopolitics at the same institution; GPA: ~ 3.2. Balanced academic requirements (mostly on weekends and evenings) with work, leading to a relatively lower academic standing, but still in the top 25%
Volunteering
Initiated and lead an operational optimization initiative at a non-profit focusing on rehabilitation of homeless in the several countries in the region
Other info:
Sports - competitive handball and swimming before/in college (unfortunately not so much lately); hobbies: music (played guitar from elementary school), all things related to international relations and current news
