Dear experts
For starters, I appreciate all the great advice that's been posted on this forum!
I'm looking for some feedback on how competitive I am. A bit about my general background:
Age and Nationality: 33 Indian
Sex: Male
Undergrad Delhi university
Work Experience: 10 yrs in TOP Indian IT companies
GPA: < 3
GMAT: 680 planning to reappear
Professional Background:
I started my career as a project coordinator for an IT company, managing a team of 8-9 people.
Managed teams with members from different countries.
Worked as a bridge engineer b/w japanese clients and my team at various locations overseas.
Most of my experience is out of Japan. I have been working in Japan for last 8-9 years mainly with big clients like docomo/ fujitsu / panasonic / NTT.
Currently working as a Sales lead for upcoming technology team (upcoming innovative technologies such as mobility, analysis , big ) in a top Indian IT company.
Fluent in Japanese reading, writing and speaking
From last 2 years got 2 promotions.
Personal Background:
I have studied humanities at Delhi university GPA was below 3
Did IT diploma course 3 yrs and scored 75%
Learnt Japanese language Delhi university and cleared top level of the proficiency test (that year only 10 people have cleared all over India and my rank was 6)
Cleared Japanese language advanced diploma and scored 80%.
Extra Curricular :
Current
Started a stand up comedy group with my Japanese friend 4 years back to initiate a better understanding b/w foreigners and Japanese people (now it has 25 members from different parts of the world ) and we have been doing shows at many locations.
Started a 24/7 medical help to assist foreigners overcome the language barrier when they visit hospitals in Japan (currently 20 members are there from different countries)
Have been doing radio program live in japanese languagebfor my local city from last 3 years
Doing legal translations and interpretations for foreigners (as a volunteer activity )
I have been selected in a core committee of my city's local citizen body. I was the 1st foreign to be selected in the core committee.
Applications:
I plan to apply (in order of preference) to Lauder program/ UCLA/ Kellog /Darden/NUS.
Future Plans: I would like to work in Marketing initially and in the long term I want to be a country head of the company.
Questions:
How competitive are my raw statistics for schools I am thinking to apply .
Are there particular aspects of my background to stress that differentiates me.
Since I have worked for about nine years in Japan, which of the programs would be best suited given the unique nature of my profile (Bilingual executive/ bridge engineer/ sales lead)?
Weakness.
Low GPA planning to add the reasons in additional essay
Exp more than 10 yrs , why an MBA now
This sure is a lot of info, so many thanks in advance!
Thanks
Niitsm
