Spoke to Admissions today. Need advice.

I spoke to the admissions director at one of the top 25 MBA programs, which happens to be in the same city that I'm living at. We have had ongoing conversations for about 6 months now. She has received all of my transcrips and professional references. A few days ago I explained to her that I was worried about gaining admission since I scored a horrible 35Q on the GMAT. However I also pointed out that the verbal was great (97th percentile). She told me that she would make a few "calls" and that she would get back to me on whether I should retake or not. Today she called me back and explained to me that my GMAT score "should be enough" if I apply for early admissions since I have an outstanding GPA and awesome LORs (which she has read). She told me to focus on writing my essays and making the rest of my application "whole."

I know that is good news. However, I'm not at peace with the 35Q score. I have spent the past 2 months reviewing math concepts and feel that I should give the GMAT one last shot. Before each of my previous retakes, I did not really spend any time studying the concepts. I simply worked out hundreds of problems without understanding the vast majority of them. At the same time, however, I am worried that my score could be lower, especially considering that I have already improved 130 points since my first GMAT (510 to 640). Do I risk getting a worse score or do I keep the one that I have?

Please suggest what you would do! Please note that I'm applying for the 2014 application cycle (next fall); just started prepping early!

Thanks!

Jose
