Regardless of your background, I recommend that all MBA applicants pursue the GMAT.
Here's why:
Prior to becoming an MBA Admissions Consultant, I was the Director of MBA Admissions for 15 years at a well-ranked school. Although all schools bought into the option to also accept the GRE when it was proposed by ETS (the owner of the GRE), most schools still view the GMAT as the gold standard.
1 - They are familiar with the GMAT format and percentiles.
2 - They know how the GMAT forecasts results for academic performance in their particular MBA program. Using the GRE is still too new to really have this knowledge base.
3 - GMAT tests are constantly validated against the performance of first year MBA students. GRE cannot make this claim.
